This Sunday (December 8) is our ward Christmas program.
Christmas will come two and a half weeks later, but this is more or less common in the wards I’ve been in for my adult life. At least in Chicago, the Christmas program has basically always been the second Sunday of December. And I’m pretty sure it was the same when I lived in Manhattan.
But I’m curious: is this a church-wide thing? Or is it unique to cities I’ve lived in. I can see it going either way—the members of my ward tend to be younger, and a significant portion are going back to where they grew up over Christmas. On the other hand, I imagine there’s a lot of musical chairs around the Christmas season, so it could be hard for any ward, whether or not most of the members travel, to put together a complex program for Christmas.
So let me know: when is your ward Christmas program?
(Our Christmas program should be fun, for me anyway: the choir, which I’m singing in, is performing two songs, and I’m playing a duet with a violinist. So our music is locked in!)
